Understanding the differences

Hardwood

Wood has been with humans since the beginning, becoming a crucial element in humankind’s evolution.

Hardwood, in particular, has provided countless of the most robust and long-lasting things like tools, furniture, fences, houses, means of transport, etc.

We are hardwood crockery specialists and have tested them for almost fifty years.
We have tested stuck-in-the-ground pole fences made of quebracho and lapacho hardwood for forty years that are still standing!

The carob tree (Ceratonia siliqua) provides the best hardwood for our kitchen crockery due to its balance between hardness and handcrafting potential.

False hardwood

The market is flooded with false hardwood cutting boards, serving boards, snack boards, etc.

Notice that hardwood is scarce, and consequently, it is costly.

90% of the boards you find on the market get their hardness by adding adhesives to softwood or herbs like bamboo, submitted to an industrial process.

None of our boards contain chemical or health-harmful adhesives or are treated with insecticides.

Only a few wood crockers are one-piece units.

As mentioned, most of them are softwood glued with epoxy adhesives.

You can see the difference in the pictures on the right.

Our goods

Our products are handcrafted solid wood pieces turned into art by South American artisans.

Notice that each differs from the rest, even those in the same category, due to the natural handcrafting process.

You won’t find two identical pieces in our catalog.

When purchasing one of our products, we can only guarantee its length, not its width or shape.

Every single board, tray, or bowl is unique.

That’s the beauty and the distinctive feature of real artisans’ craftwork.

FAQs

Why buy our hardwood pieces?

Because of the mix of durability and beauty makes them the best choice in the American market.

How long do these pieces last?

We have tested cutting boards made 35 years ago and hardwood posts driven into the ground for forty years. You can see a picture here.

Can I cut striking hard on the cutting boards?

Absolutely!. You can cut any food on them by human force. These boards are made only in the kitchen, not in any industry using impact machines like hammers, drills, saws, etc.

Can I use these pieces in movement or on leaning surfaces?

No. The content of serving boards and trays will drop off. Besides, cutting boards must be supported on flat and horizontal surfaces and preferably with a wet cloth underneath to prevent them from slipping away.

Are these pieces reversible?

Most of them are, especially some cutting and serving boards. Nevertheless, take reversibility as a bonus.

What about maintenance?

These one-piece, pure hardwood boards and bowls can be recycled into new ones whenever you want. Sand them down smoothly, and you’ll have your board back new without any scratches or marks. You can repeat this process uncountable times. See how it looks here.
